Google,
we all know, is one of the best Internet search engine. Its
search service has now become a big user of blogs for communication
among its employees and manager. This is due to the company’s
acquisition of Pyra Labs, the creator of the Blogger Web Log
Service. The search company Google, while acquiring Blogger,
implemented an internal blogging system, which is known as
Intranet blogs. The main function of such type of blogs are
to keep track of the notes & minutes of the meeting, share
diagnostic information, trade bits of software codes, and
keep everyone updated on their activities. This is the starting
of potential business opportunity of the company, as felt
by the Product Manager Jason Goldman of Google. The motto
of the IT companies are to do more work with less input, thus
the concept of intranet will be very much fruitful for such
companies.
The
acquisition of Pyra Lab as mentioned earlier will make Blogging
a profitable concept, and through this Google will make profits
in some form or other. Google is very much capable of building
a weblogging tool of its own as they can get the blogger name
and blog spot with a built in client base. All this started
with the purchase of Deja.com a source of collected usenet
data, followed by Google News portal, which mainly concentrates
into the current news. And now with the purchase of weblogging
tool and host, Blogger and Blog Spot, it is very clear that
Google is centralizing the data in addition to centralizing
data search, thus controlling both the source and dissemination
of data.
