Blog for America is the official blog of the Dean for American
Campaign. The Blog was made on March 15, 2003 and it was the
first of such type of official blog of a Presidential candidates.
During his candidacy for U.S. President, Howard Dean had a
website called Dean for America; after his campaign ended,
the website eventually became known as Democracy for America
(DFA). One of the features that remained the same between
the format changes of the site was the Blog of America, which
is the official daily journal – or web log – of
the site. What makes this Blog unique is the fact that it
was the first ever official blog of a presidential candidate;
everyone seems to be creating one now. Blog of America lets
user to get up-to-hour information, news and updates directly
from campaign headquarters.
Since Blog of America is a free site, anybody who is interest
in politics can sign up for the blog. As the blog can operate
24 hours a day, people from all across America and the world
can get the facility for debating, organizing, arguing, joking
and bringing innovative ideas to the campaign. For joining
on online discussion and community the user has to click on
“Comments” at the bottom of each blog entry. When
a user click “Comment” bottom it will open a page
of comments named as “thread”. Anybody can post
his or her comments on thread page. The Blog of America receives
about 2,300 comments per day. Governor of Dean reads all comments.
The national media have quoted comments threads in news stories.
Campaign staff read all comments receives from supporters
and critics. If they get attractive slogans, events and activities
from the “thread” page, then they take them for
their campaign. So with the help of blog anybody all over
the America and world can participate in the campaign.
