Choosing
a blogging platform is important for new blogger. There are
several types of blogging platform. A blogger has to choose
the right one based on his/her requirement.
Hosted
Weblog Providers: In
this type of blogging platform a blogger simply need to sign-up
a blog account in order to start blogging. All works and programs
are arranged in accordance to blogger requirement, so there
is no need to install any program. To get such types
of facility bloggers have to visit hosted blog sites, choose
a blog host site, sign-up for an account, and mention the
choice about blog template, color, theme, etc. This set-up
is perfect for most of the blogger because they generally
do not want to study any complicated technical matter like
HTML, CSS and/or FTP.
Stand
Alone Weblog Software: In
this type of blogging platform a blogger, in order to start
blogging, needs to download and install blog software from
a free or paid web host. WordPress, Movable Type, etc. are
such types of blog software. To install such types of software
a blogger has to visit software’s site, check the requirements
to run the program, download the specific software, install
the software on blogger’s web host, and follow the set-up
procedures. Blogger can later customize the template and add
different functions to make blog more attractive. This type
of blog platform is good for those bloggers who wish to give
an attractive look to their blog. A blogger of stand-alone
blog software should have some technical knowledge or have
a guide that would provide him/her with some technical guidance.
Remote
Blog System: Remote blogging platform software is between hosted software
provider and stand-alone blog software. In this system, bloggers
do have the choice of opting between the host weblog system
in the build in weblog host, or use personal web host and
domain. Blogger.com is an example of this type of system.
In this type of platform the typical setup guideline follows
that of the blog host providers’ setup, if the blogger chooses
to have his/her blog hosted. If a blogger chooses to run his/her
own web host and domain name the blogger would have to provide
the FTP details to the remote blog system of his choice. The
web host company should provide the FTP details, which usually
comprise of the FTP address, FTP account user name and password.
So
depending upon blogger’s choice that he/she prefers for his/her
blog, these are the three platforms for web hosting. They
are worth checking and testing.
