In some ways Blogs can be considered as a new
form of journalism, which is open to everyone capable of establishing
and maintaining a website. The positive about them is that
they bring in spanking new voices into the national discussion
on a variety of topics, and help build communities of interest
through their collections of links. The perfect example is
that it’s the bloggers who helped the mainstream news media
get interested in the Senator Trent Lott’s (R., Miss.) racially
insensitive remarks, which compelled him to resign as Senate
majority leader.
But where did blogs come from? The
origin of the blogging is rooted in the mid 1990's. The identity
of the first blogger actually is not clear, as the art of
blogging did not really took off until 1999. The original
Weblogs were link-driven sites with personal commentaries.
The very first blogs were human guided Internet web tours.
While initially thought of as diaries or online journals,
blogs have evolved into the latest fresh web content.
The boom of weblogs happened in
1999 when several companies and developers made simple &
uncomplicated blogging software & tools. Blogs have exploded
in the past years. Since 1999, the number of blogs on the
Internet has exploded from a few thousand to an estimated
half a million.
"Blogging" is a buzz word in technology world and
is the wave of the future. Whether it’s a craze or gets established
as a new way to communicate with existing and potential customers,
the least it deserves is a significant look.
